| 07 December 2008 - It Doesn't Feel Like Christmas! |
| It doesn’t feel like December, or that we’re nearing Christmas. I don’t have any Christmas decorations, except one small box of balls I found in Debbie’s cabinet. The weather is climbing from the 70s to the 80s. Christmas cards sent & received will have to be e-cards this year. We will get each other a Christmas gift and that will be all the gifts until our stuff arrives from America, hopefully sometime in February.
Faustin plans to take us to the Sarit Center mall on Christmas Eve since it will be at its height of activity that night with crowds shopping and special drawings at the stores. We are also making plans to have the Waldrops, Theresa, and Kellee over for Christmas dinner, plus anyone else who needs somewhere to go on Christmas Day.
However, the malls have decked the halls. Christmas lights are strung at all the malls across light poles and buildings. In fact, Nakumatt Junction has outlined all the buildings with beautiful lights like the Plaza in Kansas City does. They also have lovely festive banners of purple strung along with greenery. Suddenly many stores have displays of Christmas wrapped baskets of specialty foods and other gifts, along with some paper, candles, and the British Christmas crackers.
The funniest is the Santa Claus at the other Nakumatt at Prestige Plaza. It is an almost life-size Santa Claus figure that is dancing a hula as the Chipmunk song about the witch doctor plays! I’m not sure what the connection is between a witch doctor and Santa, or who selected that song for Santa to dance to, but it’s weird!
